Call To Arms: Twin Peaks

Every few days, heroes of Azeroth are called upon to focus their collective efforts on a specific PvP battleground. This is known as a Call to Arms, and from July 22-24, battle will rage in Twin Peaks. If you’re new to the battleground or haven’t participated in a Call to Arms before, read on for everything you need to know. 

Twin Peaks Basics

Number of players: 10 vs. 10

Minimum required level: 75

Location: Twilight Highlands

Getting there: Speak to a Battlemaster in any capital city or activate the Player vs. Player window (the default hotkey is ‘H’). Select the ‘Call to Arms’ option, and then click on the ‘Join Battle’ button to enter the queue for Twin Peaks.

Objective: Capture the enemy team’s flag three times before the match timer elapses. If the timer expires, the game ends, and the team with the most captures is declared the victor. In the event of a tie, the last team to capture a flag wins.

Call to Arms Rewards

Participating in and completing the Call to Arms battleground grants you bonus Honor points, no matter if you win or lose— more than you’d earn for finishing the battle normally. Additional points are awarded for your first win of the day, and level 90 players can also earn Conquest points as a reward for victory. 

Other Rewards

There are plenty of fun achievements to be earned in Twin Peaks, including:

  • Top Defender [Return 50 flags as a defender in Twin Peaks.]
  • Peak Speed [Win Twin Peaks in under 7 minutes.]
  • Twin Peaks Mountaineer [Perform a roar emote with the flag while under the effect of both a speed power up and the berserking power up.]


For the Win

Your team will need to infiltrate the enemy’s base, grab their flag, and return it to your own base to score a point. Stand near the enemy’s flag and right-click on it to become the flag carrier; be warned – while carrying the flag you’ll be subject to a debuff that increases the amount of damage you take. Summoning a mount will also cause you to drop the flag, so you’ll need to run back to your base on foot.

As long as your team’s flag is secure, you can capture the enemy’s flag by returning it to the flag room in your own base. If the enemy has taken your flag, you’ll need to slay the enemy flag carrier to recover it.

Winning is a matter of coordinating both offense and defense effectively: you’ll need to focus your attacks and defend strategically. Twin Peaks has one obvious chokepoint – a bridge over the river bisecting the map. You’ll often hear players instruct others to stay away from the bridge, as it’s difficult to secure and flag carriers will often find other ways to cross the water.

 

Victory in Twin Peaks often comes down to some of the following strategies: 

  • While it’s certainly possible for one or two players to capture the opposition’s flag, an assault has a higher chance to succeed when players attack as a group.
  • Sharing important information, such as the position of the enemy flag carrier, can turn the tide of battle.
  • Focus on the flags! Seeking honorable kills can sometimes feel like the right thing to do, but it rarely helps your team win the battle.

Coordination is key when your team has to successfully complete two tasks at the same time. Something as simple as noticing that your offense has no healers (and calling this out to your team) can save the day. The team that best follows the flow of battle will often gain an advantage, so keep an eye on the map, and speak up if you see the perfect opportunity to strike!
