Hotfixes: October 25, 2023

WoW

Here you'll find a list of hotfixes that address various issues related to World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, Wrath of the Lich King Classic, Burning Crusade Classic and WoW Classic. Some of the hotfixes below take effect the moment they were implemented, while others may require scheduled realm restarts to go into effect. Please keep in mind that some issues cannot be addressed without a client-side patch update. This list will be updated as additional hotfixes are applied.

Hotfixes

October 25, 2023

Player versus Player

Blade's Edge Arena has been temporarily removed from the Arena rotation, for a terrain issue to be addressed.

WoW Classic Era and Hardcore

(With realm restarts) Added additional protections to prevent some deaths via flight-path disconnects. Now when you take a taxi, a protection aura is placed on you that prevents all damage, your hearthstone cooldown is reset, and your hearthstone spell is insta-cast.
- Developers’ notes: We have alerts in place that will help us as we continue to monitor and investigate this issue.

Wrath of the Lich King Classic

Adjusted the logic controlling the levels at which player-characters are allowed to queue for dungeons in the Random Dungeon Finder so that it is closer to the range displayed, which was also adjusted. Now, all classic dungeons should allow a range of roughly 8 levels: from 3 levels below the level of the final boss to 5 levels above. Burning Crusade dungeons should now allow a range of 3 levels below the end boss to 3 or 4 levels above it, and Wrath dungeons allow a range that starts at 3 levels below the end boss.
- Developers' notes: The most noticeable effect here is that the minimum level allowed for some dungeons has gone up slightly. This is intended to address situations that arise for players whose level was significantly lower than the rest of the group.
Fixed a bug that could prevent Masked Orphan Matrons from starting the Headless Horseman’s fire events in various towns.
Fixed an issue that sometimes caused Talon King Ikiss in Sethekk Halls to not grant completion credit for the dungeon in Random Dungeon Finder.
Fixed a bug that prevented Death Knights’ tier 10 Sanctified Scourgelord 4-piece damage bonus from working properly.
The "Sinister Calling" step has been removed from the "Hallowed Be Thy Name" achievement.
- Developers’ notes: We’ve been working on a permanent fix for the underlying issue here, but we want to alleviate the immediate concern for players with Hallow’s End already underway.

WoW Classic Era and Hardcore

Undead enemies in the tunnels just outside the entrance to Deadmines now have a more reasonable spawn rate.

Wrath of the Lich King Classic

Fixed an issue preventing the weekly raid quest from being offered after the weekly reset.
All versions of Ashen Verdict reputation rings are now Unique-Equipped.
The 10-player instance Upper Blackrock Spire was unintentionally listed in the Random Dungeon Finder and has been removed.
Fixed a bug that prevented the use of mounts that are items only.

October 17, 2023

Dungeons and Raids

Players can now queue for Mists of Pandaria timewalking and Wrath of the Lich King timewalking while in Chromie time, when available.

Wrath of the Lich King Classic

Fixed an issue where defeating Aku'mai in Blackfathom Deeps and Archaedas in Uldaman was not properly completing the dungeon and rewarding players when queued into via the Random Dungeon Finder tool.
Fixed a bug that prevented Netherwhelp and Frosty from appearing in the Pets tab.
Fixed a bug that prevented shapeshifted Druids from exiting certain dungeons.
Fixed an issue where Luck of the Draw was not being given to players entering The Escape from Durnholde from a Random Dungeon Finder queue.

October 13, 2023

Items

Fixed an issue that could prevent "Windborne Velocidrake: Visage of the Infinite" from dropping for some players.
Sockets may now be added to Dreamsurge gear.
- Developers’ notes: Gear that was acquired through the Dreamsurge before this hotfix will not be eligible for socketing.

Quests

Fixed a bug that could prevent the Maruuk Centaur quest “Farrier Rondare” from proceeding as intended.

World

Fixed a bug preventing Zidormi from toggling to both versions of Theramore as expected.

Classic Era and Hardcore

The object created by a warlock’s Ritual of Summoning is now placed exactly where the warlock is standing.

Dragonriding

Fixed an issue with the Airborne Recovery dragonriding talent that would cause Aerial Halt to not regenerate a Vigor when cast during Thrill of the Skies.

Items

Fixed a bug that could prevent Everlasting Horn of Lavaswimming from dropping as intended on completion of the Siege of Dragonbane Keep.
Fixed a bug that could cause a failure to receive a Warcraft Rumble toy reward. If you earned a toy, but did not receive the item, click on the Warcraft Rumble Machine again to be given the toy.
Fixed a bug that could cause Warcraft Rumble Foils to go missing. If you’re missing a Foil that should have been given to you, click on the Warcraft Rumble Machine to receive the Foil. Multiple clicks can produce multiple missing Foils, if applicable.
When you summon a Warcraft Rumble Toy that's gained additional looks, you can now interact with that toy to cycle through its earned looks. Each time you change looks, there's a 5-second cooldown until you can interact with it again.

October 2, 2023

Enemies and NPCs

A number of creatures on Mechagon Island have been scaled down so that they are no longer lethal to lower-level players.
Bragdur Battlebrew again offers the Horde version of "Brew of the Month" Club Membership Form, as intended.
Lord Andestrasz has been found in Waking Shores, and should no longer be invisible to some players.

WoW Classic

Hardcore
- On Hardcore realms, mind control spells can not be used during normal duels.
  - Developers’ notes: There should be no change to duels on non-Hardcore realms, and this should not prevent players from using mind control spells during Mak’gora duels to the death.
- Added an identifier that will show you the player class and level on hover-over, when challenged to a duel to the death.
Wrath Classic
- Fixed a bug that caused the Joyous Journeys bonus to unintentionally disappear.

Druid
- Restoration
  - Fixed an issue that caused the Unstoppable Growth talent to not function.

Events

Brewfest Hops no longer affect dragonriding mounts.
When dragonriding in Eastern Kingdoms Cup races, players will now be temporarily granted fully unlocked dragonriding, regardless of their current Dragonriding Talent Tree state.

WoW Classic Era

Fixed an issue that prevented Ouro from spawning after a post-wipe reset.

Events

The Waking Dream public event in the Azure Span should now properly start.
Brewfest
- Fixed an issue that prevented Keg-Shaped Treasure Chest from being awarded to players below level 70.

Quests

The weekly Time Rifts quest "When Time Needs Mending" can now be completed in a raid.

September 19, 2023

Quests

Fixed a bug preventing the objective counter from increasing when survivors were rescued for “Refti Retribution”.
Fixed a bug that prevented some players from turning in the quest “The Nokhud Offensive: Founders Keepers”.

WoW Classic Era

The most-recent Alterac Valley bonus weekend has been extended. The bonus will end when the next bonus weekend (Warsong Gulch) begins on Friday, September 22.

Player versus Player [with scheduled weekly maintenance]

Evoker
- Disintegrate damage increased by 33% in PvP combat (was 20%).
- Developers’ notes: Devastation's killing power outside of cooldowns is lower than we'd like, so we're increasing Disintegrate damage further to help Devastation in PvP. In future patches, we would like to further expand on this effort and move damage out of Dragonrage and into other areas.
Priest
- Discipline
  - Penance healing is increased by 35% in PvP combat (was 15%).
- Shaman
  - Elemental
    - Volcanic Surge now increases the damage of Lava Burst by 45% (was 55%) and Lightning Bolt / Chain Lightning by 50% (was 35%).
  - Restoration
    - Riptide healing is now increased by 25% in PvP Combat (was 10%).
    - Healing Stream Totem healing is now increased by 30% in PvP Combat (was 20%).
  - Warlock
    - Affliction
      - Unstable Affliction's backlash damage increased by 35%.

September 15, 2023

Dragon Racing

Adjusted Gold and Silver times for the Flashfrost Flyover Reverse Challenge race. These were inadvertently set too high.

Professions

Engineering
- Engineers can now purchase Sprocket Containers from Hobart Grapplehammer in Legion Dalaran at a cost of 50 Leystone and 10 Felslate each.

Rewards

Fixed a bug that caused Zaqali Elders’ loot to drop at a lower item level than intended.

WoW Classic Era

[With Realm Restarts] Fixed a bug affecting bonus Honor awarded for Alterac Valley.
Completing “Fish in a Bucket” no longer rewards gold.
- Developers’ notes: This change was originally made in patch 2.0.10 and works well in Classic Era/Hardcore, as the original quest provided an uncontested, single-faction, infinitely repeatable, low risk gold reward that does not comport with the nature of the rest of the game.

Sarannis' Mystic Sheen effectiveness reduced by 70% in PvP.

Secrets of Azeroth

On the secret day starting with “They Are Always Listening”, you should now get the quest “A Complete Inventory” from Fangli Hoot if you do not get it automatically by investigating all 6 notes.
Updated some of the quests to address issues where players could fail to receive a clue because secrets had been started on different characters.

WoW Classic Era and Hardcore

Fixed an issue where certain hunter pets could be dismissed and attack nearby players.

Achievements

Fixed an issue that was preventing players from being properly granted the baseline Challenger, Rival, and Duelist

WoW Classic

Fixed a bug that prevented the NPC Tyrion from turning back into a quest-giver at the conclusion of the quest “The Attack!”
Hardcore Realms
- The Coarse Dynamite thrown by civilian dwarf NPCs at Dun Modr should no longer cause players to become PvP flagged.
- Developers’ notes: These specific NPCs had a very small chance to hit you and flag you, so it may as well be zero chance. Nonetheless, we do not intend to make changes to the general behavior of enemy faction guards in Hardcore. Players who wish to avoid being flagged for PvP should avoid enemy faction settlements and quests labeled “PvP” in the Quest Log.

Dragonriding

The Loamm Roamm Reverse Challenge silver medal should again be rewarded correctly.

Quests

Chromie now offers “No Limits”, a questline delving into Eternus's past, without requiring the Dawn of the Infinites dungeon to be completed.
When “Stepping into the Shadows”, Maiev Shadowsong should no longer point at invisible Felflame Braziers.
Moraidormi now stops disappearing and Nozdormu will enter stealth more appropriately during the quest "Not Today, Fate."
Demon Hunters who previously could not interact with the Control Console can now return to The Fel Hammer continue with their Order Hall campaign.
Tinkmaster Overspark is visible, and "The Legend of Mechagon" is once again available to players above level 60.

WoW Classic Era

For each player-character's current Rank, weekly PvP contribution calculations now only award up to the amount of contribution points missing in progress towards the next Rank threshold.
- Developers' note: In higher ranks, players have been intentionally earning dishonorable kills to lower themselves below their current rank threshold in order to gain credit for an additional Rank, thereby allowing them to gain progress more quickly than a player who is just above that next Rank threshold. You now first earn up to the amount you're missing from the Rank you start in. There should no longer be a benefit from lowering one's rank via dishonorable kills to earn progress more quickly.
Fixed an issue that caused the Honor reward for Alterac Valley marks turn-in quests to be unintentionally doubled.

Evoker
- Preservation
  - Rescue will no longer cause Verdant Embrace to be placed on cooldown if used while Flow State is active.

Items

The Whirring Chainblade now has its appropriate minimum level required.
Engineering
- Fixed a bug that caused Chromatically Calibrated engineering goggles to require level 58 to transmogrify.

Quests

The Legend of Mechagon can now be properly completed by all characters.

WoW Classic Hardcore

The String of Ears buff earned for Mak'gora kills now persists through death.
Developers’ notes: This will allow the new Classic API to report the correct Mak'gora kill count for deceased characters.

Secrets of Azeroth
- Fixed an issue that was causing the quest “Using the Idol” to not show up after you completed “An Idol in Hand.”

Quests

Fixed an issue where credit was not being assigned correctly for the final objective in “Urgent Exfiltration.”
