New Player Tips: When in Orgrimmar
New Player Tips is a recurring feature in which we ask World of Warcraft veterans to share their thoughts and advice for new adventurers on a variety of in-game topics.
This week's topic is: etiquette.
New World of Warcraft players have a lot to be excited about, but they also face many potential challenges. There are all kinds of mechanics and skills to learn as they embark on their grand adventures. Tutorials and helpful advice can make leveling new characters much less daunting, but there's another important layer of World of Warcraft that is much less predictable than enraged elementals, elder gods, or even dragons bent on complete annihilation: other players!
Even if you've played World of Warcraft for a long time, you might recall how reaching out to other players for the first time could be more intimidating than facing down a pack of ravenous beasts. A lot of the "rules" for in-game etiquette are unwritten and they can take some time to learn. Without experience, a well-meaning adventurer might say or do the wrong thing and mistakenly leave a poor impression.
Maybe you can help save a new recruit from such an inglorious fate. As a veteran player, what tips would you give to help newcomers be the kind of player you want to party with?
